Dental Emergencies

A toothache or dental pain is usually caused by a dental condition or problem such as a cavity, severe tooth decay, a tooth or gum abscess, a cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease or TMJ (jaw joint) disorders. The severity of a toothache can vary greatly, from a mild dull ache to sharp and excruciating pain. A toothache may become worse when exposed to temperature fluctuations of foods and beverages or by the act of chewing. A thorough oral examination, which includes dental x-rays, can help determine whether the origin of a toothache is coming from a tooth or jaw problem and what dental condition is creating it.

If it is outside of our normal business hours and you are a patient of record, when you call our office you will be instructed on how to get a hold of Dr. Durflinger or one of our team members who can help you with your dental emergency.
